Fear
All sentient creatures seek
self-preservation
And avoid that which brings pain and
tear;
At the basis of all neurosis,
Lurks the oppressive power of fear.
Anxiety, compulsion, obsession,
Anger, avoidance, depression;
Hatred, insecurity, repression,
All take root from fear.
Death is the end for all living,
Suffering is part of the deal;
Fear reminds us of the inevitable,
Even if the fear is unreal.
As we shake in our boots,
Let’s remember why we’re here:
To enjoy life, find peace and meaning,
And put to rest our fear.
