SOUL

Aspire clear vision of Light,

see the horizons of the Soul;

Beware the vastness it may embody,

and Qualify us all.

Life--the Spirit--takes on many a form,

impregnating matter with hopes of change;

Importing purpose and meaning, and character,

to awareness the Soul contains.

The Soul gives birth to the Quality of Life,

with out which there would be no value;

No goodness, no rightness, no sense of worth,

no truth would Being allow you.

The Soul is the seer of vision itself,

the witness that perceives the perception;

The consciousness contained within the form,

a self-conceiving conception.

Self-illumined like the Sun,

 burning brightly like a flame;

The Soul enlightens our life,

 amidst the center of pleasure and pain.

Behold the rainbow of color the Soul may display,

when shined through the bodily prism;

The forms and shapes are but shadows,

anointed by the Soul's baptism.

Even the beauty of the most precious sights,

are dull reflections of the Soul's intenseness;

Most these visions are nothing more,

than illusions created by the senses.

Most of our "lives" are clouded with glamour,

the illusions seem so true;

The alluringness of matter,

entices the Soul to view:

To view the distortions of misconception,

the agonies of misunderstanding,

or the melodies of sweet flute songs,

or the orders of a captain commanding.

So much may capture the Soul's attention,

making experience an impressionable "thing";

So much may enrapture the Soul's intention,

deafening what the Soul could sing.

Looking out through the  medium of the mind,

the Soul is absorbed by the world's distractions,

Neglecting to attend to the Spirit,

It becomes overwhelmed by the world's attractions.

This neglect becomes a habit,

thus does glamour and illusion arise.

These are embraided in our evolution,

making personality our Soul's disguise.

Once developed these habits can be strong,

blinding the vision of the Soul;

Removal of these obstacles are necessary,

or else they take their toll.

Pain, depression, anxiety, and unbalance,

are symptoms of the distracted condition of mind;

If afflicted by these problems,

the Soul rays can't shine.

The hindrances in specifics are many,

but in principle are few;

When these are released from ones lifestyle,

the Soul-life may come through.

Each obstacle may be overcome by cultivating its opposite,

with a constant, enduring effort of will;

Aspiration begins with these remedies,

leading eventually to mind that is still.

A first major hindrance, is an unfit body,

disabled and plagued with disease;

This may be transformed by saneful living,

wholesome, pure, and in peace.

Another is mental inertia and languor,

leading to chronic fatigue;

With better control of the life-force,

 comes vigor and vitality.

Through discrimination of the what is and is not,

with dispassion from what is not true to ones heart,

Disciplined in deed and word,

May the Soul display its art.

For the Soul is the principle of intelligence,

that molds experience into meaning,

The discriminator of the Real from the unreal,

the illuminator of our Being.

Illuminating the rays of our life,

shined through our personhood,

The Soul offers sentiency to the sensible,

and goodness to the Good.
