Surfing the Tide of Life

Thousands of days gone past,

Made up of precious moments soon to join them.

Youth gives way,

The moments taking their toll upon the flesh.

No matter how loved or hated,

Whether enjoyed or not,

Life moves on until the final reckoning.

Suffering is weaved into the fabric of life,

As is bliss.

Sickness, despair, torment.

Health, happiness, hope.

These are the waves upon which life ebbs and flows.

Life does not depend on duality,

But is certainly swept into its current.

Wisdom allows us to expect these tides,

We can surf them courageously or shy away.

The moments move on,

as the tide rolls in and out.
