Liberty

There is no more a blessing that Life can offer,

            nothing more worth a sacred fight;

Than--Liberty--a God given gift,

            freedom to pursue our inalienable rights.

No person can give another this freedom,

             nor can another take our rights away;

Tyrants have tried to impose their travesty,

            by treating us as slaves.

Enslaved we are to so many a thing,

            subservient to inner and outer oppression;

Binding us from choosing our choice of freedom,

            tying us to our woe and depression.

We are all slaves to this thing or that,

            bound to our own desire;

Lust and greed overwhelm us,

            blinding the bright cosmic fire.

Like Hebrews in ancient Egypt,

            or an African on a foreign plantation;

We are slaves to some fallen angel,

            if desires spoil our aspiration.

Liberty comes to each at birth,

            and even a "slave" can be free in his heart;

What can fetter the light of our soul,

             or tarnish the spiritual art?

Each of us must insist on this Liberty,

            the freedom to choose our path in peace;

Time is here to dethrone those tyrants

            that hinder our release.

No compromise can be allowed,

            not one precious right forsaken;

We must take our leave from Babylon,

            leaving our soul to live free in civilization.
