Basic Goodness
It is good that we are here, now.
That we live and think and breathe.
It is good that there is light and air.
It is good that there is earth and sky.
The Sun is good, so are the clouds,
The grass, the birds, and all creatures.
So much is good that we forget
that life is basically good.
We take for granted especially the good itself.
We fixate on the upsetting.
Even that is good so we may know the upright,
And appreciate the basic goodness.
