BEFORE I CLOSE MY EYES

Before I close my eyes tonight,

I must ponder of my plight;

Of friends and foes and sorry souls;

Of precious hopes that take their tolls;

Of dreams and stories never told;

and destinies that to soon unfold;

As I do, tears run through my eyes,

of thoughts of sorrow I despise;

Of lonesome hearts and tragic endings;

Of narrow minds, so unbending;

Of misbegotten lies and stealings,

dishonored trust and dirty dealings.

Thus I come to see the path,

of karma's smile and fateful laugh;

Now it’s time to close my eyes,

So that I might fantasize,

About a world that is fair,

and people who care.

Good night.
